The history of Baldersheim
The history starts with the Norse resettling of the Norselands in -1760 when their town was founded.
The Baldersheim tribe is known for having a variety of members and they are never to be underestimated. They may sometimes look like they lack discipline but they are fierce Norse and when they charge few have the courage to stand their ground. Baldersheim are very pragmatic and may turn their back on previous allies if something is in it for them. As most Norse they are quite greedy and the Baldersheim are always in search of gold to pay for their beloved feasts.
Three years ago there was a big battle that has been known as the Massacre of Gimle. In this battle the Baldersheim tribe stood with the Griffins, the Stonecrowns, the Saxons, the Golden Empire, the Wolves, the Gimleby village and the Dangafyr tribe. The battle ended with a victory for the Baldersheim tribe but they would have a falling out with most of their old allies in the year after. Since then they have formed the Great Norse Nation under King Halfdan of the Boradal tribe.

Lore
Faction culture: songs, games, sayings, some other (examples: how do we earn money, how do we go to war, how religious, family tree,…)
The town of Dangafyr is the oldest and biggest of the Norse tribes. Established in -4100, but abandoned for nearly 2000 years until resteled in -2400, it houses the largest Norse population and the core of the city is surrounded by a great wall.
The Tribe is known for being the heart of Norse culture and science. They are very knowledgeable and interested in everything from music to medicine. They use their knowledge to produce and export goods and inventions to other tribes in their part of the world. Their interest in culture, science and trade make them tend to avoid conflict, but if pushed the people of Dangafyr will answer. What they lack in experienced warriors they make up for in strategy and innovation. The Dangafyr troops have skilled leaders and the troops often make impressive and surprising maneuvers. They are also known to build impressive war machines such as catapults and ballistas. Despite their generally calm and collected demeanor the Dangafyr have sometimes been seen going berserk in battles. Seemingly out of nowhere they break formation and charge the enemy in blind rage. Some believe this is the work of the Dangafyr alchemists and their potions, but these rumors remain unconfirmed.
They have yet to show a big interest in the Gimleby region and are therefore the least established tribe in the area. But it seems like the new Jarl wants to expand their trading routes and increase their contact with the exotic countries that gather in the region every year.

Boradal

“The foolish man thinks he will live forever if he keeps away from fighting; but old age won’t grant him a truce, even if the axe does.”
Norse are known for their brave warriors and fierceness in battle. The Boradal in particular have some of the greatest warriors in the region and their skills and discipline in battle are feared by many. The Boradal’s passion for fighting is only rivaled by his love for feasts and celebrations. In the nights song and laughter can be heard from their camps as they share stories around the fire and drink until the sun rises.

Last year’s events: A relatively peaceful year for the Boradal tribe. With that said they still managed to execute the mayor of Gimleby and kidnap a golden empire princess. With little to no revenge being seen from these factions one wonders if it has already been forgotten. There was also a strong alliance formed between the Saxons and Boradal through the wedding of Norse warrior Balder and a Saxon princess. Loki managed to escape his imprisonment and spread chaos and laughter in the area.
Current challenges: The pragmatic Norse have often found themselves siding with the dark forces because it was in their own best interest. This has led to a problematic relation with the other factions. Will the Boradal try to fix this diplomatically or by building up their army and scaring the others into compliance. The Boradal are also still looking for revenge for the use of Loki in the ritual of the Banshee queen.
Lore
The Boradal come from a long line of fishermen and hunters. The latest generations have turned more and more into professional warriors, using their boats to travel up and down the coast raiding other villages. Their humble beginnings can be seen in their boat making skills as well as their love for singing. Many of the songs are old row songs used on their ships. The most well known song “My mother told me” can often be heard from the Boradal camp.
During the days of the full moon ritual the tribe sends some of their best warriors as a show of strength to please the gods. It’s an honor being chosen for this mission and the warriors come to feast and celebrate the year that has passed as well as laying the foundation for the next trough diplomacy and by the axe. While being loyal and brave some might say that their weakness is their arrogance, however few people have said that to the face of a Boradal and made it out in one piece.
